[su_heading size=”18″]The Playful World of Watercolor[/su_heading]
9×12 sketchbook watercolor
I know I am a black and white kind of girl, but once-in-awhile I like to add color and playfulness to my drawings. This weekend was one of those times. I don’t like to labor over a color piece, so what better medium to use than watercolor. Draw a quick rough sketch, then add a little color – done. One of the attributes I enjoy about watercolor is the variety of effects it can create. The piece can be soft and muted with a quick color wash, it can be bold and free with the use of more pigment, or any effect in-between.
If I approach an art piece with no expectations of how I want it to look in the end I find great relaxation and freedom in the process. This is how I approach watercolor. Really, does it mater how it turns out. It is a piece of paper. If I don’t like it, I can just start over and enjoy the process again.
I really enjoyed playing with these pieces. It’s a great experience, no matter how it turns out.
